![]() Following up on the surprise success of their breakthrough single, 'Thuggish Ruggish Bone,' E. 1999 Eternal became a popular album that received substantial critical acclaim for Bone Thugs-n-Harmony's unique melodic style of rapping. 1999 Eternal remains the group's best-selling album, with four million copies sold in the United States and ten million worldwide. The album topped Tracklist Track number Play Loved Track name Buy Options Duration Listeners 1.Rappers love saying the name of the place where they are from. Back in the nineties, at the height of the media contrived American East coast / West coast supposed mass rap feud, the place where a rapper came from probably seemed more important than it does today. Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony laid claim to no coasts that weren’t the banks of Lake Erie rendering them generally irrelevant at the time, yet at height of the summer in 1995 they released an album all about their life in the desolate wastelands of the American Midwest and even went so far as to include the name of what is presumably their favourite street in their home town of Cleveland in the release E. Flippantly taking flavours of the East coast, West coast, and Southern rap scenes, these druggish thugstas concocted a smoothly sinister slice of soulful, melodically inclined rap that at the time ultimately failed to garner the attention it potentially deserved. ![]() To the uninformed, the name Bone Thugs-N-Harmony can be somewhat confounding (most importantly, the “N” actually stands for “in”, not “and” or “nigga”), while it is obvious that the Bone part signifies their penchant for gruesome, morbid imagery and refers too to the rappers various bone themed stage names, the harmony part is a surprisingly genuine and integral ingredient to their overall sound. The group slickly arrange melodic vocal harmonies and lightning quick lyrical exchanges in sharp yet smooth triplet-time verses, all layered on top of pensively malevolent G-funk grooves.įrom first impressions it might seem fair to argue that other than Wish Bone, who is set apart by simple virtue of having a deeper voice than his Bone colleagues, the rappers comprising the Thugs-N-Harmony have relatively homogeneous styles. ![]()

![]() Unless you have a very good HI-FI sound system that can reproduce those extra fidelity sounds, you should go for lossy. Compression is also performed after this step. In this type of compression, some part of audio fidelity, deemed inaudible/indistinguishable to human ears, is removed or has its fidelity (or accuracy or loudness) reduced. The tradeoff is that you have very large file sizes. These algorithms may perform some kind of compression on the audio, but it doesn't remove any audio data, thus nothing is lost. So what's the difference between these two? Lossless algorithms ![]() What compression means in audio codecsĪudio compression algorithms are divided into two categories: Lossless and Lossy. Today, we'll be looking at software encoders and we'll focus our attention on the WAV format. Some examples of such codecs are MP3, FLAC, WAV, and AAC. The software counterpart is an algorithm that compresses and decompresses digital audio. They can be implemented as hardware codecs, which encode analog audio to digital audio and vice versa.Īn example of such codecs are sound cards in your computer, which have built-in analog-to-digital (ADC) and digital-to-analog (DAC) circuits. ![]() I'm talking about audio codecs.Īudio codecs, in simpler terms, are just encoders and decoders ( co - coders, dec - decoders, or co - compressor, dec - decompressor). They've also developed a method to save them in digital format. So naturally, engineers found a way to convert these analog signals into digital signals. This means that it cannot be stored and processed by the computer directly, as a computer only understands digital signals. Since audio or sound is a wave (a literal, continuous wave) it is analog in nature. Audio is a very important part of any digital media. |
